78:280 Contemporary World Politics [Grills]

Prerequisites: 78:130 or 78:172 or permission of Instructor.

The course is designed to introduce students to key issues, debates and theories that characterize contemporary world politics and international relations. Topics covered will include globalization and global governance, international organizations, the state, the international system and the role of the individual, environmentalism, human rights and the changing nature of conflict in contemporary society. Also under consideration will be theoretical approaches to international relations including realism, liberalism, constructivism, Marxism and feminism.
