This course will examine the theoretical and historical underpinnings of “Development” as both a national and international project
of economic development in the post-1945 era. To better conceptualize the stakes of contemporary debates over globalization, the
course will situate the current understanding of globalization in the sociological study of development and underdevelopment.
Selected case studies from Asia, Africa, and Latin America will be analyzed.
