Prerequisites: Chemistry 300 (40S) or 18:090; Mathematics 300 (40S) or 301 (40G) or 62:090; Physics 300 (40S) is preferable to Physics 200 (30S). Students lacking any of these prerequisites are required to consult with the department.

Lectures discuss stoichiometry, ionic equilibria, atomic structure, chemical bonding, molecular shapes, and a brief introduction to organic chemistry. Laboratory experiments emphasize quantitative techniques of analysis.
