78:378 Ethnic Conflict [McCulloch]

Prerequisite: 78:172 or permission of Instructor.

This course will explore the nature of ethnicity, its role in political and social life, the causes and consequences of ethnic conflict, and the means by which to manage, regulate and settle such conflicts. Specifically, this course will consider 1) definitions of ethnicity and competing explanations of ethnic conflict, 2) different approaches for the management of ethnic conflict, and 3) the manifestation of conflict in selected areas
