Microscopic descriptions of matter using quantum mechanics and statistical mechanics. The structure, bonding and motions of atoms and molecules will be discussed leading to the obtainment of detailed information of molecules from spectroscopic applications. Microscopic phenomena will be linked to macroscopic properties via statistical mechanics. The laboratory will focus on computational chemistry and spectroscopic applications.
