54:341 Understanding Archives [Henry]

Prerequisite: 6 credit hours in History or permission of Instructor.

This course is designed to introduce students to the archival professions and its underlying theory and practice. Topics will include appraisal, arrangement and description, preservation, reference and outreach, electronic records, and archival management. The course will use a combination of lectures, discussions, reading, research and practical assignments.

3 lecture hours per week, one term.
