82:363 Prejudice, Stereotyping and Discrimination [Corenblum]

Prerequisite: 82:262.

This course examines the cognitive, emotional, and personality influences on why we hold negative attitudes toward other people, paint uncharacteristic and largely false images of them, and work actively to deny them the benefits of the larger culture. Particular attention will be devoted to the development of prejudices and stereotypes in children and adolescents.

3 lecture hours per week, one term.
