90:157 Social Problems [Coulling]

Prerequisite: Nil.

This course provides an introduction to the discipline of sociology through the examination of major contemporary social problems. Relevant theories and research findings in areas such as: social inequality, poverty, work and unemployment, and homelessness; forms of oppression along axes of race, colonialism, gender, sexuality, age, ability, weight; health and the pandemic; drug use and addiction; crime, the criminal justice system, and sexual assault will be examined.

3 lecture hours per week, one term.
