Prerequisite: 6 credit hours in first-year English literature (ENGL) or permission of Instructor.

The Romans were instrumental in the development of many genres of English literature. The purpose of this course is to introduce readers to the study of classical Latin literature. Authors to be studied include Vergil, Ovid, Catullus, Propertius, Sulpicia, Horace, Juvenal, Petronius, Plautus, and Terence. Texts are all in English: no knowledge of Latin required.
