This course will examine the chemistry of environmental systems and their contaminants. Particular emphasis will be placed on water chemistry, atmospheric chemistry with respect to the ozone layer and air borne pollutants, radiation chemistry, the chemistry and quantification of inorganic (heavy metal) pollutants, organic pollutants, and the molecular mechanisms of the toxicology associated with radiation, and specific inorganic and organic pollutants. Examples will be drawn from both historical and current scientific literature.
