This course focuses on the visual arts of ancient Aboriginal peoples in three geographical regions: Mesoamerica, the American Southwest, and the Eastern Woodlands. The course addresses the role of visuality in religious practices and social organizations in each region, as well as the impact of historical linkages between these ancient societies.
